Parsha of the Week

Rabbi Yaakov Loeberbaum of Lisa (d. 1832), the author of Nesivos Hamishpat, says  even without bowing down to idols or offering to them sacrifices, merely declaring certain things to be as a result of one’s own work or power is considered heretical idolatry. He explains that this is the understanding of the exegesis in the Talmud  which states that King David desired to commit idolatry until Chushai stopped him; in reality, David merely wanted to attribute his military victories to his own strength and not G-d’s help. This is the meaning behind the juxtaposition of Deuteronomy 8:17, “And you shall say in your heart, ‘my might and the strength of my hand, made me all this fortune’”, to the warning against committing idolatry and straying after false lords. Assuming that one’s success is a result of his or her own toil and perseverance is denying the power of G-d and (heaven forbid) declaring Him secondary in the natural flow of the world. Therefore, attempting to achieve as much wealth, honor, or pleasure as possible can also be classified as a type of idolatry for it implies that it is within an individual’s ability to accomplish such a task unaided by divine intervention.

Shabbat Shalom! Have a Good Shabbos!

This Parsha speaks about the civil code of the Torah. If a person hits his father or mother and caused a bruise on the parent he has to die if .If someone kidnaps a man then forces the man to work for him and then sells the man as a slave the kidnapper will have a death sentence. If a person curses his father or mother then he must be stoned to death.why is this punishment so cruel because it is hard to make sure that the curse do not come out especially when someone loses his temper. An attacker must pay for the victim's loss of payment (work) and the attacker must pay for the medical expenses. The money owed for the medical expenses has to go directly to the medical expense. If the victim insisted wants to keep the money for himself and not use it for treatment then the    attacker does no have for the medical expenses.

Shabbat Shalom! Have a Good Shabbos!

This Parsha speaks about The Ten Commandments. The five Commandments between you and Hashem are:

1)I am Hashem, your G-d, who took you out of Egypt.
2) Do not serve any other G-ds.
3) Do not say Hashem's name in vain.
4) Remember to keep Shabbos/Shabbat day.
5) Honor your Father and Mother.
The five mitzvot between a person and his fellow are:
6) Do not kill.
7) Do not commit adultery.
8) Do not kidnap.
9) Do not be a false witness.
10) Do not be jealous of your friends' house (belongings).

Wait, why is the Commandments honor your Father and Mother in the section of a person's relationship between him and Hashem? The answer to this is that there are three partners in a making of a child-the mother and the father provide the human body, shape, nerves, etc...Hashem provides the soul, which is the most important because the soul is like a battery. If there is no battery, in an object which uses batteries this object will not work.Same with a human.

Also on another note, when you use a GPS and you go the wrong way, does it say you are not smart? No, it just reroutes you which way to go. That is what a parent should do for their child. If the child makes a mistake then the parent should guide the child the right way .

In this parsha it speaks about Pidyon Haben ,how to redeem your first born son .If someone has a first born which is a male baby then the father must redeem this child for the price of five silver coins. They would take the five silver coins and give it to almost any Cohen. Then the child is the family's to keep forever.

In this Parsha Pharoah didn't want the Jewish people to be powerful. But he couldn't kick them out because the Jews were the ones who built  such things as buildings and pyramids. The Jewish people also were the ones lifting brick from one place to another place. (Pharoah said)"If the Jews stay they can secretly leave or they can help our enemies be against us". in case there is a war they might help the other side. Pharoah had an idea that he should enslave all the Jewish people this way they can't leave or be against us.We will still have the Jews to build and to make pyramids. But the Jewish people would not just come and work.So Pharoah made an announcement saying we need help for building and Pharoah himself started to work. When most of the Jewish people got there the Egyptians said for every one brick you do you get one solid gold brick for yourself . At the end of the day they asked everyone how much they did and they told everyone there how ever much you did you have to do the same amount tomorrow if not your children will be used instead of the brick. Also You will not be getting your Gold Solid Brick . Pharoah thought he can't make there be less Jews. But even when he made the Jews work there were still a lot more Jewish people .First Pharoah ordered midwifes to secretly kill the male babies when they are born. Then have the Egyptians to throw the babies in the the river (Nile) and finally have Egyptian solders searching Jewish homes for hidden infants (babies)

Yakkov  lived  in  Egypt  for  seventeen  years .The  time  came  of  his  death   approaching .He  called  his  son  Yosef.  He  said  to  him  "Please  If  I  have  found  favor  in  your  eyes"  please  put  your  hand  under my  thigh .Please  do  not  bury  me  in  Egypt.  Bury  me  next to my  father . You  shall  bring  me  there.  Yakkov  died at  the  age  of  one  hundred  and  forty  seven.

The meaning of Yosef placing his hand under the thigh of Yakkov is to show the fact that Yosef is taking an oath, swear.

Last week we left off with the eleven tribes/brother going to the palace in and the prime ministers son put the special cup in the bag of Binyomin because his father the prime minister (Yosef )told him to. prime minister (Yosef ) went after the eleven tribes/brothers and then he stopped them.He said some one stole my cup. He searched them all from oldest to the youngest. He found it in Binyomin's bag who is the youngest of them. This week Yehuda the third oldest tells yosef that they can't take Binyomin as his prisoner. He and his brothers were willing to fight and die to save Binyomin. The Prime Minister (Yosef ) said what about your other brother you didn't fight you let him go. They said how does the prime minister (Yosef ) know our brother. Then the prime minister (Yosef ) said i am Yosef your brother that second they all died and except Yosef.Yosef asked Hashem please don't kill my brothers my father had enough suffering. Then hashem sent the angle Rephael and the brothers came back alive

Yaakov was in Haran and went to Beer'sheva to see his father. He had to cross the Jordon River while going he remembered that he has forgotten his jugs and he went back to his this tent to get the jugs that he had forgot there. Then he had an encounter with esav's angle on this night. They fought till the morning and that moment the angle said i have to go back to the heavens i can't be here now. So Yaakov said i will not let you go ; give me a blessing and then i will let you go back to the heavens. The angle said what is your name? Yaakov said my name is Yaakov . The angle said your new name is Israel because you have fought with Hashem's angle.
